Louise Bilato originally graduated in Welfare and worked professionally with the Commonwealth Departments of Social Security and Employment, Education and Training as an Employment and Careers Counselor.  In 1985 she commenced work with the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service (CRS Australia) as a Rehabilitation Counselor where she worked for 8 years on an Outreach Rehabilitation Team providing innovative rehabilitation services and undertaking community development in remote Aboriginal communities and townships throughout the Northern Territory and East Kimberley region of Western Australia.  Louise became a partner in the established company, Northern Territory Rehabilitation Service Pty Ltd (now IM Concepts) in 1993 and in 2008 became the company’s sole Director.  Louise has extensive experience in injury management, training and professional development as well as mediation and careers counseling.

More recently Louise has been actively involved in the design and development of the community-based multidisciplinary RESTORE Pain Management Program as well as developing and conducting small group training programs for employers, insurers, GP's and Rehabilitation Providers.  Since 2001 Louise has developed and delivered evidence-based small group CBT programs for people experiencing depression and anxiety.  For many years Louise has worked with the road transport industry and delivers nationally accredited fatigue management training modules as well as assisting companies to design and implement nationally compliant fatigue management systems.

Louise has a particular interest in the psychosocial factors impacting return to work outcomes following injury and the impact of loss of work identity on chronic pain.  Her Masters thesis examined the role of work-related psychosocial factors in the loss of work identity and development of pain related disability.   Since 2006 Louise has facilitated the Suicide Bereavement Support Group, Infinite Circles and collaborates closely with GP's in the community.

In 2006 Louise completed an eight-week Churchill Fellowship study tour of Canada and New Zealand visiting facilities that deliver pain management interventions within the functional context of return to work programs.
